1. Begin on a Monday morning, after a bath.
2. Pass both pieces through dhoop or sandalwood incense smoke for a minute to cleanse them.
3. Hold them and set your intention for the practice you want to keep up rather than a result you want from it.
4. Chant Om Namah Shivaya eleven times, then put them on.
5. Wear the bracelet on the left wrist and the pendant so the bead rests near the hollow of the throat.
6. Remove both before bathing, keep the amethyst and citrine beads out of long direct sun, and oil the rudraksha every few months.
