1. 1. Wipe the plate with a soft dry cloth before installing; if it needs washing, use clean water and dry it fully so nothing sits in the engraving
2. 2. Install on a Friday morning, or on Dhanteras or the first day of a new account year
3. 3. Lay it on a small square of red or yellow cloth in the cash box or on the counter, engraved face upward
4. 4. Offer a lit diya, incense, akshat rice and a pinch of kumkum at the centre of the plate
5. 5. Chant Om Yakshaya Kuberaya Vaishravanaya Dhanadhanyadi Pataye one hundred and eight times facing the plate
6. 6. Renew the diya and incense each Friday and wipe the plate; inside a cash drawer brass tarnishes from handling, so an occasional lemon-and-salt clean keeps the lines readable

Vyapar vriddhi means growth of trade, and this plate belongs to the working end of the yantra tradition — the kind kept out of sight in a cash box rather than displayed on a wall. Its geometry carries seed syllables associated with Lakshmi and with Kubera, the yaksha king who guards the treasury of the gods in the Puranas and is worshipped at Dhanteras. Trading households have long installed such a plate on the day the new account book is opened, treating the ledger and the yantra as parts of a single act.
