Tiger eye begins as crocidolite, a fibrous blue mineral, which is slowly replaced by silica while the parallel fibre structure survives intact; that relic structure is what throws the moving band of light called chatoyancy. Rudraksha seeds have been strung in India for at least two thousand years and are graded by their mukhi, the natural vertical furrows in the shell. The pairing is deliberate: the tiger eye is worn for the nerve to act, the five mukhi seed for not overreaching once you have.
